The Student Partnership Team works with staff from across the University to offer paid roles to students. Working as a Student Partner means you will work in partnership with a staff member to improve an aspect of teaching, learning or the student experience through collaborating on a project.

Projects are usually six months to one year in length and are flexible, with approximately 7 hours per week of work which can be completed around your studies and other commitments. Student Partners also get a wraparound package of support and development including induction, training and a series of 1-2-1 meetings with our team.

As a Student Partner you will:

  • contribute to lasting change and leave a legacy at the University of Manchester by improving the student experience
  • enhance your employability skills with demonstrable work experience for future job applications and interviews
  • develop soft skills such as problem-solving, time management, communication and team working
  • contribute your views and unique perspectives, championing the ‘student voice’ in all you do
  • get paid for your work!

We run a Student Partner Network which offers regular training, networking and social opportunities for students involved in the programme.

We’ve had a broad range of Student Partner projects over the last couple years – you can find some of our current and past projects here.

Join our mailing list. We advertise Student Partner opportunities regularly on CareerConnect and we share these directly with students who have expressed an interest by signing up.

Recruitment will differ by project but most will require you to return a brief statement indicating why you would be right for the role. Career Connect offers some useful tips for applying for part time jobs.
